HypertensionHypertension in children is under-recognized, in part because accurate measurement of blood pressure is difficult in small children. When hypertension occurs in the pediatric age-range, it is often due to underlying renal disease or treatable genetic causes. Children referred to our division for hypertension are evaluated in a separate, specialized Hypertension Clinic. Equipment for 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring and laboratory support to diagnose the various forms of pediatric hypertension are available. The Hypertension Clinic is directed by Dr. Keith Drummond who has special expertise in the treatment of hypertension. |
